The Deputy Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, Punjab, and Member of National Assembly, Mohammad Aslam, has condemned the attack on Najaf mosque and said all Pakistanis denounced bloodshed of Iraqis and had all sympathies with them as Iraqis are passing through a critical moment of their history.

While addressing a workers' meeting here on Friday, he said the desecration of holy places in Iraq had grieved every Muslim. The sanctity of religious places especially the shrine and mosque of Hazrat Ali (AS) is imperative for all and sundry.

Denouncing the terrorism, MMA leader said that there was no concept of terrorism in Islam as it teaches lessons of love for humanity.

He said that the western countries, under a conspiracy, are distorting the image of Islam by portraying Muslims as terrorists.

Hitting hard the government for its ongoing campaign against the Deeni madaris, he said that the government had unleashed a wave of crackdown on the mosques and madaris. These moves are harming Islam and the country.

He held that Deeni madaris are fortresses of Islam. They are spreading message of love with humanity. He said: "We will render every sacrifice for the protection of seminaries and will soon launch movement against the government."

He said that MMA will launch countrywide movement against the government if it persists with harassing Ulema and does not halt crackdown on mosques and madaris.

He underscored that people had given MMA mandate for enforcement of Shariah in NWFP.

People's confidence will be honoured at every cost. Practical steps are being taken for enforcement of Shariah, he claimed. Hisba act will be got approved from the provincial assembly in order to provide inexpensive justice to the oppressed, he remarked.
